Join us in Rebellion as we explore over 4 days a world of fashion and design that breaks away from convention.
About this Event

Spacenow welcomes 5 designers to take over our South Yarra location.
Join us in Rebellion as we explore over 4 days what it looks like to
design and create pieces that break away from convention. Merging the
worlds of fashion, artistry, design and sustainability. This event
explores the use of reclaimed materials, as well as intentionally
crafted slow design. All artists showcased in this interactive
exhibition create unique one off pieces stray away from mass
production and monotony.
This is a unique event space where you can meet the makers of the
wearable art that will be on display and available for purchase.
Connect deeper to the materials, the story, explore your own
creativity and join us for a runway showcasing the works of the
artists involved.

What to expect?
Opening Night Runway - Thursday July 11th, 6pm.
Join us as we launch the pop up weekend with a runway experience
showcasing pieces from each artist, and if you’re familiar with the
artists involved, you already know you don’t want to miss this. Join
us for drinks, light finger food and djs TBA. This is a ticketed
event, so please reserve your tickets in advance as the space has a
limited capacity.
The Pop Up Store - Friday to Sunday 12-14th - 10am-5pm

SpaceNow welcomes you to the Rebellion Open studio space. Come meet
the designers, explore their collections, have the opportunity to
purchase looks from the runway, explore the visual gallery, or enquire
about getting your own customised piece. Our designers will be at the
space all weekend, creating art and sharing their stories, so come
down for a unique behind the scenes peek into their creative process,
ask questions and potentially leave with your own piece of the
experience. Entry is free for this whole weekend store pop up!

Meet Your Designers
Into Carry: Uniting community to change material relationships.
Into Carry turns overlooked materials into quality carry bags. What
started as an experiment to bring value back to wasted materials has
evolved into a collaborative design studio, zero waste cafe, and
sustainability hub in Naarm/Collingwood.
Each product is designed and manufactured locally to the end user,
doesn't break the bank and has lifetime free repairs.
Leaning into the radical transparency era, you can come and watch Into
Carry bags be made every day at Into Coffee, or go one better and
learn to make your own with their five week upcycling classes.

Samek: Worn to Be Alive
Samek, is an independent designer that has been experimenting with
sewing and design for 10 years as a way to unlock the potential within
herself and others, to be brave enough to show more of ourselves
through what we wear, without limitation on expression.
Establishing Samek Studio in 2022, Samek has created a venture that
operates through experimentation, creative direction, styling, 1:1
artist commissions as well as producing and hosting their own
independent runway show in 2023.
For the past 2 years Samek has been primarily working with artists in
the music and performance industry. creating only custom one off
pieces. This pop event will be the first time Samek experiments with
ready to wear pieces available for purchase, this will be a
combination of pieces made from scratch as well as up-cycled from
existing clothing.

Grub The Label: Where High-Frequency Vibes Meet Unconventional Style

Grub The Label isn't just a clothing brand; it's a haven for the bold,
the daring, and the avant-garde. Specialising in high-frequency vibe
wear, it caters to those who march to the beat of their own drum, the
trendsetters who defy convention with every step they take.

As an independent brand, Grub The Label is the brainchild of the
creative powerhouse Storm Nutting. For Storm, Grub is more than just a
brand; it's an extension of herself, a platform to inspire others to
embrace their authenticity. With no formal training, Storm's journey
is a testament to the power of passion and determination.

Grub The Label isn't just about clothes; it's a movement. It's a
celebration of authenticity, creativity, and the unbridled spirit of
self-expression. Join the journey as Grub redefines fashion, one
daring design at a time. Each piece is one of a kind and crafted from
recycled clothing and reclaimed materials.

Bowe: For the Sustainable Rebel.
Bowe is an up-cycled fashion brand brought to life by independent
designer Erica. Each piece is masterfully crafted from secondhand
clothing. Each piece seamlessly clashes many looks to create a unique
style inspired by punk and DIY culture.
Elegant, edgy, classic and unique designer Erica loves using texture
and colour to tell a story. She is inspired by details and produces
high quality items where each piece is as unique as you are.
After collaborating with SpaceNow on her first solo runway exhibition
in November last year. Erica has now called on other designers to join
forces and create this layered experience for the creatives to
explore.

Bobby Corica: Silversmith with a heart of Gold.
Bobby Corica, is a silversmith and designer working out of his studio
in Brunswick East, Naarm. References to genetics, memory and family
are often explored within his work. Pushing the limitations of his
materials, Bobby works intuitively and responsively, resulting in
highly textured and unique one-off pieces.

Bobby was the recipient of the 2022/2023 ISS Institute
Italian/Australian Fellowship which saw him travel to Italy and
Germany to research skills such as lampworking and leatherwork.

The National Gallery of Victoria recently commissioned Bobby for the
2022/2023 Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse. His work has been
exhibited as part of NGV Design Week, Oigall Projects, Jam Factory and
Craft Victoria.

The exhibition will also feature a gallery with visual art by talented
local artists on display throughout the entire weekend: @besminda.art;
@jimminycrickets; @reecepearce; @sarahmasonart; @finnstratford
SpaceNow and Rebellion acknowledge and hold the deepest respect for
the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners and custodians of the
land that we live, work and create this event on. Honouring the
strength of this land as well as all elders past, present and those
yet to come.
