About this Event

Rebel Frequencies make it their business to bring the best music to the White Horse stage, and we are delighted to welcome Bradley Lauretti as This Frontier Needs Heroes to bring new brilliance to the venue from afar. Added to this, we are thrilled to welcome back our very own Aoibheann Carey-Philpott who will weave some magical compositions for us. Not only that, but Bill O'Brien will share some archival ramblings in what's sure to be a magical night.

SONGWRITER BRADLEY LAURETTI

One night with Bradley will run the gamut from humor, hedonism, and activism to heartbreaking sadness. From Folk-Rock anthems to indie folk, flares of psychedelic alt-country, to straight-up storytelling. Influenced by songwriters like John Prine, Billy Bragg, Gram Parsons, and Townes Van Zandt his timeless songs mix love, humor, and protest seamlessly to get you through the tough times.


Originally from Brooklyn, NY he has traveled around a bit including stints in Nashville, Miami, and now Barcelona. He has recently performed at Fundacio Miro Mallorca, Retrospectrum: Bob Dylan at the Frost Art Museum, Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Folk Alliance International, Nordic Folk Alliance, Live at Heart (Sweden), Magnolia Festival, Hickey Fest, Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, Gram Parsons Guitar Pull, Will McLean folk festival, End of the Road (UK), Reeperbahn, Incubate, Athfest, Sing Out Loud, Savannah Stopover, and a finalist in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest (Merlefest). He is also the founder of the Stetson Kennedy Songwriter Residency.


He has performed with Scarlet Rivera, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Kath Bloom, Tallest Man on Earth, Handsome Family, Gruff Rhys, Daniel Romano, Cate Le Bon, David Dondero, Dar Williams, Chatham County Line, Scott H. Biram, She Keeps Bees and The Blank Tapes.

Aoibheann Carey Philpott is a singer-songwriter and choral director whose career has led her to perform and record both nationally and internationally.


Aoibheann has toured as the lead vocalist with her band Jodavino, captivating audiences with her powerful voice and engaging performances. She has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Lionel Richie, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, and Russell Watson. One of the highlights of her career was recording in Nashville, Tennessee, with multi-Grammy award-winning producer Jay Joyce .


Her passion for music extends beyond her original work. Aoibheann is a renowned choral director, having led the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir from 2010 to 2024 and currently directing the White Horse Gospel Choir since its inception in 2019. Under her leadership, both choirs have achieved significant acclaim and have also become an integral part of the community fabric, leaving an indelible mark across the city, county, and beyond. Notable highlights include performances with Russell Watson and captivating shows at the Cork Opera House alongside world-renowned pianist David Syme and Guests of The White Horse Guitar Club .


In addition to her work with choirs, Aoibheann is dedicated to music in healthcare settings, working as a music in health musician across various hospitals and community services in Cork City. Her projects include Marymount Hospice, Westgate Foundation, and St. Finbarr’s Hospital, where she brings the healing power of music through her work with MIC (Music in Community).


Currently, Aoibheann is collaborating with Decky Lucey of Rubyhorse fame on an exciting recording and songwriting project. She is also focusing on her live show and preparing for new releases in 2024, continuing to expand her broad spectrum of music and creative projects.
