Join us for RBC's April event: we'll explore the theme of "Futures" through "Nexus", by Yuval Noah Harari
About this Event

Welcome to the RBC Oxford event, where we'll be diving into April's theme, FUTURES, through this month's read, , by Yuval Noah Harari.
“Tremendous, thought-provoking and well reasoned. Harari gives us a vision of a rapidly approaching future that is both thrilling and chilling. If there is one book I would urge everyone to read - our political, corporate, cultural leaders especially, it is Nexus” - Stephen Fry
Inspired by our monthly non-fiction reads, our mix of part cocktail party, part creative classroom is a recipe that builds your reading habit while connecting with like minded people.

Delicious drinks are included, as well as engaging storytelling and space for conversations and sharing your own journeys across countries and continents.

Interested? Want to join us at our April event?

Try out the club with Eventbrite - new customers only. Ticket price includes access to the Oxford Rebel Book Club event plus a welcome drink (alcoholic + non-alcoholic options available).

Your hosts for the evening

Katie

I’m Katie, Canadian-Brit, and I work as an English tutor, editor and blogger in Oxford.‍

I’m a language enthusiast and love to read nonfiction so I’m always learning about new ideas and fields of study. After years of reading and teaching English literature, I’ve recently rediscovered contemporary fiction, and I’m loving that too.

We hold the Oxford RBC meetings at my husband’s pub, which is handy as we live above it with our husky, Maple.

Phil

Hi, I'm Phil and I co-host the RBC Oxford meetups with Katie. I've been with RBC for over three years now and love exploring the different theme each month.

As well as reading I enjoy running and swimming but music is my main passion. The Oxford group is welcoming and the discussions are always engaging.

More about Nexus, A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI

Stories brought us together.

Books spread our ideas – and our mythologies.

The internet promised infinite knowledge.

The algorithm learned our secrets – and then turned us against each other.

What will AI do?

NEXUS is the thrilling account of how we arrived at this moment, and the urgent choices we must now make to survive – and to thrive.
