About this Event
Real to Reel: Truth and Trickery in Courtroom Movies
Thursday, September 19 | 7:00 pm
Real trials and courtroom movies are made for each other – lawyers are storytellers, courtrooms are theaters, and the trial process provides drama, surprise, suspense, or comedy. Join UCLA Professor of Law Emeritus and author Paul Bergman as he shows and discusses entertaining clips from courtroom movies to reveal surprising facts and illustrate how law-related films reflect and influence popular beliefs about law, lawyers, and the legal system. The clips will be drawn from familiar and not-so-familiar films in Bergman’s book Real to Reel: Truth and Trickery in Courtroom Movies.
Presentation will begin at 7:00 pm; PMH Galleries will be open for viewing at 6:00 pm.
Space is limited; advance reservations required.
Copies of Real to Reel: Truth and Trickery in Courtroom Movies will be available for purchase in our Museum Store on the day of the program.
