Asian Story Theater is partnering with two of the most resourceful theater producers in San Diego to present a LIVE PERFORMANCE in Balboa Park. At 1:00pm, outside in the Zoro Garden, join the intimate (masked) audience for an hour of music, comedy, drama, and the magic that only comes with a live audience. Bring water, a chair, and maybe even a ukulele (uke optional), and welcome an early return to life as we knew it. And 1pm Sunday June 27, READY OR NOT will be repeated on the Old Town Fiesta de Reyes stage.
READY OR NOT is the title of a special summer event, a new Revue/Preview offering a sneak peek at three extraordinary projects coming this season from Asian Story Theater. First is a family-friendly new play for the New Year, adapting a Korean folk tale for WHEN THE TIGER SMOKED A PIPE. The second play will finally bring THE GOLDEN RULE to live audiences, a history-based play with music that recounts the challenges of immigrants following their dreams to California and the Gold Rush.And next summer comes NOT WORKING. Inspired by the popular 1970’s musical WORKING, this new musical considers the very modern story of essential, displaced, and forgotten workers in the time of Covid.
