Our October Main Gallery exhibition is running from October 4th to 25th. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Chris Wenger is a self-taught photographer based in Kamloops. His first camera was a Kodak Hawkeye Instamatic, later upgrading to a “real” camera and becoming the designated trip photographer of the family. This led to a number of his photographs being published in various books and magazines. After a long hiatus from photography after university and the beginning of a career in the aviation industry, an interest in birds and the magic of light has revitalized his need to capture the images he has been seeing on daily sojourns into the “wilds” around his home.
This exhibition by Chris is inspired by his 50 years of paddling and learning how to "read water" from some of the best paddlers in BC. "The ability to slow down a canoe to ride the standing waves rather than rush and plow through them has taught me to move more slowly and recognize the moments that are critical to seeing."
Chris hopes that this exhibition opens the door for viewers to notice the nature of water, starting their own journey in "reading water."
Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, October 6th, 1pm - 3pm!
