BILDER AV BRENT JORD (WITCHMACBETHFOREST) is back!Reading performance. Four actors and a musician read, play and imagine the play Bilder av brent jord (witchmacbethforest) by playwright/director Espen Hjort.
The play is a radical rewrite of Shakespeare's Macbeth, in which the relationship between foreground and background is reversed. The human characters are out of sight, and the more-than-human takes over. The battle field itself, the forest that is cut down, a bird-child are the main characters, who meet in the aftermath of the battle. Together they try to find a future.
Come listen to a hopeful, postapocalyptic play of words, sounds and silences.
The performance is in Norwegian.
Espen Hjort is a stage director and playwright based in Oslo/Amsterdam. Ecology and the relationship between human and non human beings are important themes in his work. He is also part of the performance collective Landmarks, making performance in collaboration with stones and trees.
This performance is part of Espen's ongoing investigation into open form, improvisation and scores.
