READING / CASTING - Noel Coward’s Brief Encounter - adapted for the stage by Emma RiceAn old classic given new life!
When two married strangers, Laura and Alec, meet by chance in the railway refreshment room, their friendship soon becomes more than they bargained for. Lost in the wide lagoon of love, will they dare to shatter their entire world for the sake of an agonising affair? Or should it stay only within these brief encounters at a train station?
We’re looking for a cast who can bring this celluloid sensation to life from the silver screen to stage, with actors portraying the lovers of the story, as well as ample opportunity for smaller side characters. Performers should expect a combination of naturalistic drama and over the top comedic moments. It is not essential, however anyone with a musical inclination or ability to play instruments should also consider being part of our live band for this show!

DATES:
• READING DATE: Friday 21st November, 7:30pm
• FIRST REHEARSAL DATE: Monday 1st December (Throughout December rehearsals will be just Mondays and Tuesdays. In the new year we will rehearse Mondays and Fridays, with Tuesdays being dedicated music rehearsals for whole cast. These are to be confirmed by the directors)
• TECH AND DRESS REHEARSAL DATES: 15th-18th March 2026
• PERFORMANCE DATES: 19th-22nd March 2026 (Evening performances on 19th-21st, matinee on the 22nd)
