Building children's reading confidence through one-on-one time reading to a trained therapy dog.Our Reading Buddies program provides free access to trained therapy dogs. These dogs provide a non-judgmental environment for children to relax and focus while reading. Therapy dogs are known to help increase literacy skills, confidence, and joy of reading.
These sessions take place on the first Saturday of each month and last about 20 minutes. They allow parents and their child to enjoy a private reading experience in a cozy, quiet area of the Bunbury Public Library. Participants will have exclusive time with a therapy dog and its owner, free from public interruptions.
Kids can bring their own books, or they can choose something from the library's collection.
