š This workshop is perfect for children eager to explore their creative side, learn new skills, and connect with a vibrant community of young artists.
About the Taniyah Aris:
Taniyah Aris' piece, Noir Galore, was selected to be part of the "Dress Codes: Photographing cultures and identities through fashion," exhibition.
āNoir Galoreā is all about the things that have been labeled as āghetto,ā or āunconventionalā by society," she said. "So, the afros, the gold chains and the nails.ā
The exhibition was previously on display in the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach.
Aris is a rising senior at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.
The Palm Beach Gardens native said she finds inspiration all around her.
āMy family, my friends, the music I listen to; Sade, A Tribe Called Quest, Amy Winehouse," Aris said. "I love music and I also love life in a sense that I am meshing it all together. I feel like when Iām creating I am more than one thing.ā
More than 150 Palm Beach County students submitted their work, but Aris won first place in the competition; earning her a $4,000 scholarship.
āOpening night when I walked in, I didnāt know what to expect; it was insane," she said.
Aris said winning was humbling and boosted her confidence.
She hopes to have exhibitions across the world someday and eventually become a collector who helps young artists.
