The event kicks off with a pre-concert lecture at 2:15 p.m. Alan Mautner, Conductor and Music Director, will provide valuable insights into the program. The main concert follows at 3:00 p.m.Admission is free, and no tickets are required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Exciting Program Lineup
A true highlight of the event will be the full performance of Gustav Holst’s iconic orchestral suite, “The Planets.” This monumental work, performed in its entirety, takes listeners on a mesmerizing journey through the solar system. Each of the seven movements—“Mars, the Bringer of War,” “Venus, the Bringer of Peace,” “Mercury, the Winged Messenger,” “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity,” “Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age,” “Uranus, the Magician,” and “Neptune, the Mystic”—captures the essence of the planets through music, portraying their mythological and astrological characteristics.
Adding dimension to the concert will be the Women’s Choir of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA).
