Please join us for a thought-provoking in-person conference at Green Templeton College, Woodstock Road, Oxford, UK.
We are delighted to announce that this year's annual Richard Doll Society (RDS) conference will take place on Saturday 28th September, 09:30 a.m. - 04:30 p.m. with the title "Untold Stories in Healthcare".
Medicine is taught in vignettes, and whilst this can definitely be helpful, experience teaches that there is no one way a patient with a specific condition presents. "Untold Stories in Healthcare" is all about shedding light on experiences that don’t get discussed enough: whether it is stigmas and taboos, patients who don't fit into the "classical" symptomatology, or amplifying marginalised voices. Considering these, we will explore how our medical practice can change for the better.
Our speakers will be drawing on their wealth of experience to discuss crucial neglected topics across the spectrum of healthcare, whether it be adolescent mental health, challenging sexism and gendered health stigmas, rare diseases that are overlooked, or even confronting our own professional dilemmas in a struggling healthcare system. The conference will feature a reflective workshop on changing medical practice for the better. Selected students will have the opportunity to present their research at the conference.
Please note that your conference ticket includes lunch and refreshments. Lunch will include vegan and gluten-free options. We will refund the price of the ticket (please note the Eventbrite processing fee is non-refundable) and provide certificates for those who attend for the whole conference day.
Conference Formal Dinner:
Following the conference, we would like to invite you to join the RDS committee, conference speakers and attendees for a formal dinner at Green Templeton College. The evening will begin with pre-dinner drinks at 7pm and dinner from 7:30pm.
