Keep yourself up to date with the latest on the RCN's focus, clinical refreshers, and pension updates, as well as supporting us to hold our AGM and choose next year's branch executive committee members.Registration starts at 9:30am and the programme kicks off at 10:00am.
Programme topics will include:
- The nursing role/ nursing pay spine review – what does it mean?
- Acute wound care management
- NHS pensions – updates and Q&A
- The new RCN Activist Academy.
Branch AGM and executive committee roles up for nomination:
The day will incorporate our branch AGM too, so you can get involved in ensuring our reps are ratified for another year, and electing our branch executive committee - or going for a position on it.
Have a read of our 'Branch role descriptor' poster on the event webpage, or the more formal governance documents on the 'How the RCN is Governed' webpage under the heading 'branches'. These go into a bit more detail about what branches are and what the roles involve, as well as explaining our branch election procedure.
Once you've read up on what's involved, please think about whether you're tempted to get involved. There are all sorts of benefits to being on an RCN executive committee.
If you are, please submit a nomination before the AGM date. Email it to the regional office at [email protected] stating clearly what branch and position you are referring to.
Those who fill it in before the meeting take precedence over those who self-nominate on the day, under relatively new RCN governance rules.
While there is a time commitment involved and you do have to volunteer during your leisure time, being on our executive could lead you to some interesting places and people you might otherwise never have encountered. It could also give you some skills and experience that stand you in good stead both personally and professionally.
