We invite you to join the Riley County Historical Society for our Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 18 from 6-8 PM, at the Manhattan Public Library Auditorium, 629 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS. We'll begin the gathering with light refreshments and social time at 5:30 PM with a brief business meeting at 6:00 PM, sharing "year in review" highlights, and distribute ballots of the 2026 Board of Directors slate for voting.
Following the business portion of the meeting, we'll be treated to a presentation by Melanie Highsmith, Curator of Education & Design of the Riley County Historical Museum titled, Y2K: Ringing in Doomsday or the New Year?
This presentation will explore how twenty-five year ago, Riley Countians viewed the year 2000 with concern, trepidation, and/or excitement. Highsmith would also like to engage with attendees so we welcome your shared memories and accounts of how you and your family prepared for the unknown digital transition from 1999 to 2000.
The Annual Meeting is open to RCHS members and non-members alike, and all ages are welcome. RCHS Members have voting rights. If you would like to renew or get a new membership before the meeting, you can do so from our membership page: https://www.rileychs.org/become-a-member.cfm
We'll also have a membership booth at the event. We look forward to seeing you there! Learn more: https://www.rileychs.org/calendar.cfm?v=details&m=11&y=2025&d=18&t=events&i=6360
