About the Workshop:
Hue is so excited to give you the tools to safely and intelligently work towards your handstand regardless of where you are in your practice. This workshop includes 3 parts: drills, techniques and flows.
During drills, you will learn how to warm up for handstands, you’ll learn to isolate different muscle groups with a focus on correct alignment. Learning to engage the right muscles will help you to stay safe and strong as you approach your handstands.
Once moving into techniques, you’ll learn different ways to transition into handstand. You’ll learn more accessible transitions like the one-legged kick up as well as the more advanced transitions like tuck pike, straddle pike, straddle pike press and puppy press. You’ll even learn how to fall safely.
Once you’ve mastered the first two stages we will bring it all together with flow sequences. You’ll learn the best time to add handstand into your Sun Salutation A and B whether it’s a small jump or a long float. This allows you to bring some playfulness and customization into your practice according to what feels best for you!

About the Instructor Hue Nguyen:
Hue Nguyen’s love for movement began at a very young age where she grew up in Vietnam as the daughter of a fitness trainer. Inspired by her father’s discipline, she trained and competed in sport aerobic and was selected for the national team by the age of 14.
After completing her university degree in Vietnam, Hue made the courageous decision to relocate to Canada in 2007 and start a new life, she came across the practice of yoga and the unique combination of both physical and spiritual elements fascinated her and proved to be the perfect outlet for her talents.
Her studies in yoga have taken her far and wide. She has almost 900-hours of combined formal training including a 500-hour Yoga Therapy certificate which she completed in Chennai, India in 2014.
Other certifications include 250 hours of Hatha YTT in 2017, 40 hours of Kids YTT and 100 hours of Acro YTT in 2018.
For Hue, yoga is an instrument to connect to herself and others. She is humbled and honoured to spread her passion and enthusiasm for yoga to her loving community at MOVATI Richmond Hill. She teaches Hatha, Power & flow; Yin; Sweat & Surrender.
