Charlie Demers is a comedian, author, actor, playwright, screenwriter and political activist. He's joined by host, Faris Hytiaa, and local comedian, Alison Lujan. Charlie Demers is a beloved regular on CBC Radio’s The Debaters, reaching over 750,000 listeners weekly. He’s performed at Just for Laughs and on national TV and radio. His books include Vancouver Special, a Hubert Evans Prize finalist, and Property Values. His latest mystery novel, Noonday Dark, follows Primary Obsessions in the Dr. Annick Boudreau series, exploring mental health through a psychological lens. Charlie’s second comedy album, I Hope I Don’t Remember This My Whole Life (2022), followed his Juno-nominated debut Fatherland, solidifying his reputation as one of Canada’s sharpest, most versatile comedic voices.
Faris Hytiaa is a rising Canadian comic known for honest storytelling and sharp crowd work. Born in Toronto and raised in Alberta, his unique voice earned him Telus STORYHIVE’s first comedy special, SEND HELP. He’s appeared at Just for Laughs, CBC’s Halifax and Winnipeg Comedy Festivals, and Moncton’s HubCap Festival. By year four, he’d played every major televised comedy fest in Canada. Faris debuted on The Debaters in 2024 and has toured nationally, opening for acts like Hasan Minhaj and Neal Brennan. His laid-back style and unpredictable wit make him a standout in Canada’s comedy scene.
Alison Lujan is an Okanagan-based comedian whose vibrant stage presence and deeply personal storytelling have won over audiences across the region. After dropping out of a writing program in 2012, she spent a decade gathering experiences that now fuel her comedy, from heartbreak to hilarity. In 2023, she returned to the mic and quickly made a name for herself with a style that’s surreal, uplifting, and raw. Whether reflecting on absurd real-life moments or embracing the awkwardness of being human, Alison’s humour sparks conversation long after the set ends.
