RAUW is back in Rotown on Saturday, May 25th, for an evening of groundbreaking and transcending music. Imaginarium and Roufaida will show how we do it in Rotterdam, meanwhile Dolphin Hyperspace will bring the heat all the way from Los Angeles.
Borders are meant to crossed, and Roufaida is here to show this to us. The Rotterdam artist has her own intimate universe of indie pop, in which she incorporates her North African roots in a very original way. Riffian cassette samples, Arabic grooves, guitar, vocals and beats. Roufaida magically brings them all together.
Hailing from Los Angeles are the exciting electro duo Dolphin Hyperspace. Saxophonist Nicole McCabe and bassist Logan Kane combine electronic beats and synths with groundbreaking, hyperactive jazz, inspired by the music on labels like Brainfeeder. With these two superhero musicians on stage it’s impossible to keep your feet on the ground.
Club music or concert music? Does it matter? Imaginarium thinks outside of the box. Their caleidoscopic view on music makes them switch from dub to afro beat just as easily as from UK jazz to electro. This Rotterdam collective, lead by Anton de Bruin, are the talk of the town, and beyond. This is something you don’t want to miss…
