Raul Sanchez i Jorge is a Valencian-born Australian musician whose creative path is guided by curiosity rather than genre. Best known as the guitarist for Magic Dirt and River of Snakes, he brings an experimental mindset and an instinct for the unconventional to his work—a collage of contradictions: structured yet chaotic, dark yet luminous, melodic yet dissonant. Sitting at the threshold of the intelligible and the untranslatable, his music refracts the supreme mystery, dissolving boundaries and inviting listeners into cinematic sonic experience. On Saturday, April 19th, Raul will perform a very special solo show at Desert Highways, Reservoir, Naarm, to launch his new album, ATROPOS, available on the day!
Free entry, all ages, with music kicking off at 2 PM.
Expect a one-of-a-kind performance of largely spontaneous improvisation and unique sounds.
ATROPOS:
Atropos is an album of unraveling forms, dissolving boundaries, and sound slipping through time. Each track unfolds with an intuitive sense of space, this is music that breathes, mutates, and reshapes itself with each listen. Minimalism and psychedelia blur into a dreamlike pulse, where textures emerge like fleeting memories before vanishing into the ether. It’s an album that asks for patience, rewarding those who surrender to its immersive, ever-shifting depths.
Composed, performed, recorded and produced by Raul Sanchez i Jorge.
