By the grace of Sree Jagannath, senior members from Odia American community of Bay Area laid the foundation of the first Jagannath Mandir in California at Fremont Hindu Temple (Vedic Dharma Samaj) in 1994. It was a blessing for all the Jagannath devotees across communities to be able to perform the rituals of Sree Jagannath in their adopted country. The temple management and Odia community members continue the Jagannath culture, traditions and rituals. Such programs help our community in cultural immersion and knowledge transfer of our rich heritage to the new generations while staying connected to their roots. Its also spreads awareness to the larger community about Odisha.
