Rastak, one of the most acclaimed ensembles in contemporary Iranian folk music, has been touring since Nowruz this year with their latest project, Tales of Earth and Sun. On November 23, the tour arrives in Stockholm at the Global Sounds Festival. Welcome to an evening where ancient traditions meet new sounds, and where music becomes a bridge across time, place, and people.
Formed in 1997, the group has spent nearly three decades exploring, collecting, and interpreting the rich musical traditions of Iran and its neighboring countries. By blending authentic folk instruments and timeless melodies with contemporary arrangements, Rastak builds bridges between generations and cultures, creating music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
Tales of Earth and Sun is a journey through landscapes and memories, featuring six evocative pieces inspired by Kurdistan, Lorestan, Baluchistan, Hormozgan, Kermanshah, and a heartfelt love song from Afghanistan. Each piece carries the soul of its land—stories of joy, strength, passion, and traditions passed down through centuries.
This tour is more than a concert—it is a celebration of cultural heritage, an invitation to travel through the soundscapes of diverse cultures, and a tribute to the connection between the earth that holds our roots and the sun that gives us life.
