Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of RASA - a concert-style music series from musician and organizer Camila Celin. This month, join for a lively evening of Flamenco music with Julia Patinella's vocals, Juan Pedro Jimenez on guitar, and Jay Ghandi on Bansuri. Plus, a special feature from the NYC Flamenco Chorus.

Dancing and grooving is always encouraged, however we do kindly request only quiet conversation during performances unless otherwide requested by the musicians. There is time allotted before, after, and between sets for social connection.


About the performers:

Julia Patinella is a multilingual singer and songwriter currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. After years of immersion as a Flamenco singer in southern Spain, Julia has developed several original musical projects in Spanish, Sicilian and English, that draw from her roots, her experience as a first-generation American female, and urgent socio-political themes. In her performances, she brings forth an expansive repertoire steeped in history and folk traditions, and a rich, guttural voice that carries the raw emotions of protest, the longing for freedom, and the uncompromising commitment to sing every note with soul. Julia is also a music educator and psychotherapist dedicated to using music as a tool for healing in collaboration with Carnegie Hall and Flamenco Vivo NYC, reaching thousands of refugee and immigrant children yearly throughout the U.S.


Juan Pedro Jimenez is a well known flamenco teacher and professional artist ( guitarist and singer) A native of Cadiz, Andalusia grew up at the heart of flamenco music and since 2016 has been spreading it in New York circles with a group of other great flamenco artist like Yohanna Escamilla, Xianix Barrera, Alfonso Cid and Pedro Cortes.He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Cádiz (Spain). He has 20 years of experience as an educator and facilitator in the field of music, social, and cultural integration, as well as the dissemination and awareness of values related to artistic heritage and the environment. As part of his mission of service to humanity, Juan Pedro has created and developed rehabilitation projects for people in penitentiary and juvenile centers. And programs for people with special needs. In recent years, he has collaborated with the company Flamenco Vivo de NYC, in flamenco outreach programs by numerous educational centers, libraries, centers for the elderly and institutions managed by the City of New York and State of New York.
