Mark your calendars for an exciting evening of exploration into the unique and rare plant life of the Sourland region. Jared Rosenbaum, co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, and author of the book, “Wild Plant Culture” will be giving an engaging talk titled "Rare Plants in the Sourlands" on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Montgomery Township Municipal Building, located at 100 Community Drive, Skillman, NJ 08558.

Jared Rosenbaum is a botanist, ecological restoration practitioner, and co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, a nursery that specializes in native plants and seeds. He is the author of two books on native plants, including Wild Plant Culture: A Guide to Restoring Edible and Medicinal Native Plant Communities, and the children's book The Puddle Garden. He is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner by the Society for Ecological Restoration.

He is a passionate advocate for native plant species and an expert on the ecology and conservation of the Sourlands region. In this talk, Jared will share his deep knowledge of the rare and endangered plants that thrive in the Sourlands, a unique ecological area in central New Jersey.

Attendees will gain insights into the importance of protecting these rare plant species, learn about their role in the local ecosystem, and discover how they can support conservation efforts in their own backyards. Whether you're a nature lover, conservationist, or curious about the flora of the Sourlands, this talk will leave you inspired to preserve these extraordinary species.

The event is co-hosted by the Sourland Conservancy, the Somerset County Park Commission, Montgomery Township, and the Somerset, Hunterdon, and Mercer Chapters of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. These organizations are dedicated to preserving the ecological health of the Sourlands and promoting native plant species to foster biodiversity.
