Come and learn the theory behind rapier fencing, and how it can enrich your sabre fencing (and maybe do a cheeky little bit of rapier on the side). Mosh Hewson - the current reigning World Broadsword Champion and ranked 16th in the world for rapier in 2024 - is coming to Sydney to teach this special workshop on sabre fencing from his extensive experience in broadsword and rapier. The workshop will provide a friendly personalised learning experience to participants, with interactive drills breaking down the application of key fencing concepts. It also serves as a warmup for the World Broadsword Championship in April (https://www.facebook.com/events/1367086791340953).On Saturday the 1st of February at 10.30am we'll be meeting at Mothership Studios (18-22 Sydney St, Marrickville NSW https://g.co/kgs/WjqSUQj ) for a full day fencing workshop, followed by drinks at the The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre (https://hawkesbrewing.com/pages/the-bob-hawke-beer-and-leisure-centre ). There will also be a casual fencing meetup with private coaching from 11am on Sunday the 2nd at Haberfield Netball Courts (https://maps.app.goo.gl/uVhsaqKJoMdjmCaU8 ).
Mosh prides himself on providing friendly and supportive lessons to allow fencers to grow in a safe space through his infectious enthusiasm. His teaching style is highly personalised to participants' needs, and he has produced numerous high-level fencers. Mosh is regarded as one of the top historical fencing coaches in the world and has taught both historical fencing and larp internationally, where he has been repeatedly praised for his ability to create a joyous environment to learn in. He focuses on allowing people of all experience and ability to experience the joy of historical fencing.
Mosh also boasts an impressive fencing record. He is the current reigning World Broadsword Champion and is also ranked 16th (top 2%) in the world for rapier and 143rd (top 7%) for sabre. He's also just really fun to fence and fencing Mosh is worth the price of admission alone. Mosh runs a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@MoshHewson ) where he provides advice on effective fencing, but the really good stuff is on his Patreon (https://patreon.com/HokageMosh?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=join_link ).
