A chameleon (Johnny Depp) leaves his life as a sheltered family pet and finds himself in an identity crisis, as a frontier town's new sheriff. Though at first only role-playing, a series of encounters forces him to learn how to stand out when it is his nature to blend in – becoming a real hero in the process.
