Saturday November 16, 2024, 1pm to 3pmLocal Historian Mark Karr will be sharing his updated history of the economic and social conditions that led to the rise and fall of Oroville’s nationally famous citrus industry and eventually, to the development of affordable housing for veterans of World War Two.
This is an update that focuses solely on the Modern, 20th Century History of Rancho Golden.
Mark will be documenting the history that covers how the world renowned 150 acre citrus grove became a magnet for some interesting plans for the land it occupied and the land that surrounded it.
The discussion will also cover the purchase of the Rancho Golden Citrus grove by Mr Noel Newton Sr. in 1938.
