Stop voter suppression in Seattle!The right-wing Recall campaign against Kshama Sawant is trying to avoid getting on the November general election ballot in order to suppress the vote. They want to undemocratically remove our socialist councilmember (who we’ve democratically elected 3 times!!) through a low-turnout winter special election. Special elections historically have up to 50% lower voter turnout than general elections with the highest drop-offs among renters, voters of color, and lower-income voters. This is the same brand of voter suppression being used by Republicans all around the country to fight back against the growth of BLM and the left.
To get on a special election ballot, all the recall needs to do is claim they haven’t collected enough signatures by the August 3rd general election deadline.
...but now they can’t use that excuse, because we are rapidly collecting ALL the remaining signatures they need to get on the November ballot and then some! All the recall needs to do now is turn all the signatures in before the deadline, but they won’t do it without enormous pressure.
That’s why we need everybody to JOIN US outside the Recall campaign’s law firm’s offices on Monday, August 2nd to DEMAND the recall turn in the signatures! NO VOTER SUPPRESSION!
