Raku pottery dates back to the beginning of the 16th century. This pottery was heavily associated with the tea ceremonies of the Zen Buddhist masters of the time. The simplicity and naturalness of traditional Raku pottery embodied many philosophies of the masters of the time. This class creates the stunning yet simplistic visual appearance
of a Raku pottery piece using a dried gourd as the vessel. You may choose to make either a traditional bowl or add feet to make a cauldron.
