Resonant, acoustic chamber folk with an otherworldly edge, and a lyric presence that cuts deep. Prism-clear vocals and strings, anchored in the ancient mountains, reaching out beyond the earthly.
Raine is part prairie songstress, part storyweaver. Each song has a story delivered between songs with humour and grace. Raine invites the love of the violin into the singer-songwriter genre, writing for violin and voice, as well as for guitar and voice. Joined by cello and upright bass, expect string arrangements that push and pull, that move as they console.
A classical violinist and musicologist by training, Raine and the trio offer string-quartet-like arrangements of Raine’s original songs. They call this chamber-folk, a hybrid of the classical tradition of string quartet chamber music, with the singer songwriter folk that comes so naturally to Raine.

Raine est à la fois une chanteuse des prairies et une tisseuse d’histoires. Chaque chanson a une histoire, racontée entre les chansons avec humour et grâce. Raine invite l’amour du violon dans le genre auteur-compositeur-interprète, écrivant pour violon et voix, ainsi que pour guitare et voix. Avec le violoncelle et la contrebasse, il faut s’attendre à des arrangements de cordes qui poussent et tirent, qui bougent en même temps qu’ils consolent.
Violoniste classique et musicologue de formation, Raine et le trio proposent des arrangements pour quatuor à cordes des chansons originales de Raine. Ils appellent cela du chamber-folk, un hybride de la tradition classique de la musique de chambre pour quatuor à cordes, avec le folk du talent d’auteur-compositeur-interprète qui vient si naturellement à Raine.
