About this Event

Do you love stories, songs and a bit of sparkle? To celebrate the upcoming Midsumma Festival, we’re adding a splash of rainbow flair to our beloved Storytime sessions.

Join us in late January as LGBTQIA+ storytellers share their favourite tales, sing some rainbow-themed songs and rhymes, and celebrate diversity, inclusion and joy.

The special guests who will be taking over our Storytime sessions include:

  • Drag King Dandy Boy on Tuesday 20 January, 1.30-2pm
  • Disability activist and author Jax Brown on Tuesday 27 January, 1.30-2pm

Perfect for kids aged 3-8.

Book your tickets now.

This event will be Auslan interpreted and livestreamed. To attend the livestream, please register your free ticket using the Eventbrite below.

Presented by Midsumma Festival and State Library Victoria, supported by Rainbow Families Switchboard.

About Dandy Boy

Dandy Boy (he/him) is a drag king and costume designer making queer magic in Naarm. He believes in the transformative power of glitter, sequins, and the kind of dance moves you'd see from a middle-aged dad at the barbecue. Dandy is the sort to always wear his moustache on his sleeve, specialising in performances that showcase gender expression as a form of joy and freedom.

About Jax Brown

Jax Brown (he/they) is an esteemed disability and LGBTQIA+ rights activist, writer and educator. He is proudly disabled and proudly trans and is the tired parent of 2 young children. When not being earnest about social change he can be found reading memoirs and picture books, doing daggy craft and wearing a sprinkling of rainbow at all times.
