The next Railway show is Friday, October 10th at 7pm with Rob Flax's Boom Chick Trio. I saw the band in south county earlier this year - it was so much fun! Rob is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator with a playful heart and an open mind which shows in his genre-bending performances: from classical and jazz violin to bluegrass fiddle, to blues and rock influences, and beyond. Rob is a graduate of the New England Conservatory, and he currently lives in Boston.
With Rob, the Boom Chick Trio features Slava Tolstoy and Chris Sartori. Chris and Slava both are incredible instrumentalists who have chops for days, but know how to balance their prowess in service of the song.
Slava Tolstoy is a Boston based guitarist, singer and producer, originally from St. Petersburg Russia. Slava’s original songs are best described as energetic pop-rock with tight arrangements, virtuoso soloing and deep and meaningful lyrics in the best traditions of Russian rock.
Chris Sartori is a bassist, percussionist, and multi-instrumentalist currently based out of Boston. Throughout 10+ years touring nationally with Americana genre-defiers, Twisted Pine, Chris has studiously carved out a niche as the funkiest bassist in bluegrass. A graduate of the Jazz program at UMass Amherst, Chris is a lifelong student of music, dedicated to groove, improvisation, and bringing the music to life each night.
