Mumbai, – The Kala Ghoda Association and Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, presented by [Sponsor] and powered by [Sponsor], in collaboration with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) and the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), today announced Rahul Sharma’s “Santoor Serenity Healing Harmonies, a special fusion concert serving as the official Curtain Raiser Charity Fundraiser for the upcoming 26th edition of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Scheduled for Sunday, 12th October 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

The event will bring together Indian classical traditions and global contemporary sounds in a one-of-a-kind musical experience. Proceeds will directly support the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the historic Kala Ghoda Art District.

Rahul Sharma, globally acclaimed Santoor maestro and son of the legendary Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, will headline the performance. Known for redefining the Santoor with his modern sensibilities while preserving its heritage, Rahul has released over 70 albums and collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artists including Kenny G, Deep Forest, and Richard Clay Derman. His work spans global stages and includes symphonic compositions with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as recordings with Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan.

This specially curated concert will feature a high-calibre ensemble of musicians including, Ojas Adhiya (Tabla), Vinayak Pol (Drums), Avinash Chandrachud (Keyboard), and Manish Kulkarni (Bass Guitar). The performance will fuse the melodic richness of Indian classical music with the vibrancy of jazz, rock, funk, and world rhythms creating an immersive sonic journey for audiences. The event is being managed by The Event Company.

Speaking about the concert Rahul Sharma said, “This concert is a celebration of the universality of music rooted in the soulful richness of Indian classical traditions, yet resonating with listeners across the world. It’s about creating a space where melodies can heal, inspire, and unite us all.”

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Asia’s largest multidisciplinary street arts festival, returns for its 26th edition from 31st January to 8th February 2026. Over nine days, the festival will present 300+ programmes across 14 artistic verticals, including music, dance, theatre, literature, cinema, visual arts, heritage walks, architecture, comedy, and food. Since its inception in 1999, the festival has grown into one of India’s most prominent cultural platforms, attracting visitors from across the world.
Brinda Miller, Chairperson of the Kala Ghoda Association and Festival Director, commented, “As we embark on our 26th edition, our goal is to sustain Kala Ghoda’s legacy as a vibrant hub of art and culture. This fusion concert is not just a performance, it's a call to action for patrons, collaborators, and audiences to join us in safeguarding our heritage.”

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Mumbai’s premier museum, continues to support Kala Ghoda’s cultural mission through collaborations that advance heritage conservation, education, and community engagement.

A collaboration with The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) is proud to mark this special occasion with the announcement of its upcoming international exhibition: "Networks of the Past: India and the Ancient World."

This landmark exhibition will explore Ancient India's cultural, political, religious, and intellectual connections with civilisations across the world. It opens on 13th December 2025
