About this Event
As we experience the multi-system collapse called climate change, we are left with all the rage and grief of our broken relationships with the rest of nature. How do we learn to see the hopeful futures already blooming in the human and more-than-human communities around us?
First, we’ll explore the land of Fox Haven Farm to inspire our speculative “world-building” and to help each of us choose a climate solution rooted in social or environmental justice. Through individual freewriting and group discussion, we’ll continue to build our “story worlds” by immersing ourselves in the sensory details of our imagined futures.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll go home with a story seed, the beginning of a fictional story about a just climate future rooted in your own community and ready to inspire your real-world climate action.
Meet Your Teacher Nichole Amber Moss (she/they)is a writer and poet of speculative ecologies. By day they work as the Creative Director at a climate research organization. By night they write stories inspired by queer ecology, ecofeminism, and Appalachian environmental justice. Nichole lives in Appalachia with her rescue dog, Brodie Baggins
