This year, Lara—the heart behind Lane Creek Reserve—faced a life-changing challenge. A freak accident in the pasture left her unable to walk, and doctors discovered that both of her feet would eventually need reconstructive surgery. As a farmer, a mother of two young kids, and the caretaker of more than 200 animals, losing her mobility wasn’t just painful—it put her entire world on pause.
Over the summer, nearly all the tendons in her right foot snapped. Her surgeon warned that if the last tendon gave out, she would need an ankle fusion—something that would permanently limit her ability to work on the farm she’s built with so much love.
Lara underwent major reconstructive surgery and is now home recovering. She cannot bear weight for two months and faces a long 5-month journey of healing and physical therapy. The family is navigating childcare, farm work, medical costs, and daily life with limited mobility and limited income during recovery.
We’re raising funds to help support Lara and her family through this difficult time—from medical bills to farm help to basic household needs—so she can focus on healing fully without fear.
Lara gives endlessly to her community; now it’s our turn to give back.
