Join Ben Gardner, University Experiences Manager, for a tour of the Radius exhibition and a hands-on workshop covering basic relief printing.Radius: Helen Frankenthaler Prints in Context is an exhibition focused on Helen Frankenthaler’s prints, along with her contemporaries. After meeting in the art-making studio at the museum, participants will take a tour of the Radius exhibition, focused on printmaking techniques and some of the themes Frankenthaler explored while working with various printmakers.
After the tour, participants will return to the art studio for a hands-on demonstration of relief printing. Starting by carving their own plate, we’ll go over different printmaking techniques, how to ink and print the plate, and discuss different options in terms of supplies, paper, and other materials.
No prior printmaking experience necessary! All supplies are provided by the museum. RSVP at https://events.iu.edu/artmuseum/event/2015611-radius-tour-and-relief-printmaking-workshop
