This autumn, Radio Laria is excited to present wonderful, Perth poet Nandi Chinna and the fantastic Hayley Ricketson from Melbourne’s Team Slama. Nandi is the author of four poetry collections who is inspired to create poetry grounded in ecologies and layers of history. Hayley is a poet, playwright and slam finalist who we have loved hearing on the open mic. Speaking of open mic... we are equally excited to make space for ten open-micers (five-minute limit, sign up on the night, and arriving early is recommended for sign up). Tickets are $10 or $5 and are available at:https://www.stickytickets.com.au/E1CRX
Tickets available on the door, but please remember we only accept cash.
Doors open 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 07:30.
Our venue, the grassroots Black Spark Cultural Centre (126A Gladstone Ave, Northcote), serves two things that most poets love… coffee and wine! (Other options available if you don’t fit that stereotype…) You are also allowed to bring in food from outside as long as it’s not too messy.
The audience is very supportive, and we welcome new readers. Men are welcome to share on the open mic, but please be mindful that this is a night to promote women’s poetry and we ask that you behave respectfully. Come along and join this warm, vibrant poetry community and check out what else is going on at the Black Spark Cultural Centre.
Location: Black Spark Cultural Centre, 126A Gladstone Avenue, Northcote, VIC 3070.
Black Spark is a one minute walk from the no. 11 tram line (St Georges Rd) and a 10-15 minute walk from Croxton Station (Mernda Line)
Accessibility: Front entrance, open mic, and carpark are all wheelchair accessible.
