Radically Miscast Shakespeare | The Merchant of VeniceThis summer, The Porters of Hellsgate sees the return of the hit Free Reading Series RADICALLY MISCAST SHAKESPEARE.
The readings are conceived of and produced by Associate Artistic Director DAWN ALDEN, who says of the series, “Despite modern productions making great strides with ‘colorblind’ and ‘genderblind’ casting, there are still great roles in Shakespeare that many actors will never get to play, because directors and producers cannot imagine them in those roles. If Shakespeare’s works are universal (and we believe they are) let’s put that to the test!”
All performances are free and open to the public, and will be performed at the Madnani Theatre at 6760 Lexington Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038.
