PLEASE NOTE: This workshop will be recorded for teaching purposes and is running half price. By signing up you agree to be included in the filming. Excerpts may also be used on social media.
We live in a culture that thwarts the subtlety and communion of the body’s intelligence in a thousand ways. For instance, it prioritizes doing over being; it advises that the head should be in charge; it considers the body to be no more than intricate machinery; and it insists that humans are separate from nature. These cultural beliefs live within us, for they have shaped our neurology. That’s why, for example, we find it so difficult to be present, or to stop living in our heads, or to feel the security that comes with being at rest on the earth.
In this workshop, Philip Shepherd will introduce you to a series of simple, gentle, unique practices that help you encounter such limiting patterns within yourself and soften through them. By doing so, you will develop skills to last a lifetime. By transforming your relationship with your body, you also renew your relationship with the world.
What makes the work Radical?
• Because we will bravely challenge a six-thousand-year-old paradigm that binds each of us in our daily lives to division, disconnection, willfulness, and isolation…
• Because we will playfully discover how cultural patterns of restriction are held in the body, and through that discovery return to the spaciousness of presence and the grace of being...
• Because we will experience true embodiment as radically NOT what we have been told it is by many well-intentioned teachers...
• Because the path to freedom is located within your body, is traveled through surrender, and is inextricably linked to the body of the world...
• Because this workshop challenges our assumptions of what it really means to be human.
About Philip Shepherd
Philip Shepherd is recognized as a leader in the global embodiment movement. His unique practices were developed to help transform our disconnected experience of self and world, and are based on the vision articulated in his celebrated books, New Self, New World (2010) and Radical Wholeness (2017). The aim behind all the practices of The Embodied Present Process™ (TEPP) is to help people reunite the thinking of the head with the deep, present and calm intelligence of the body. Unlike the prevailing view of embodiment – which involves sitting in the head and ‘listening to your body’ – Philip’s approach helps you listen to the world through the body. What the body most deeply understands is that it belongs to the world. What the body most deeply feels is the present. When we join its intelligence, we discover companionship in the world rather than alienation; we recognize guidance where before we saw only obstacles; and we ground ourselves in the security of being, rather than seeking to build security for ourselves with symbols of external value. Ultimately, TEPP is about coming home to yourself.
Developed as an experiential complement to Shepherd’s groundbreaking books New Self, New World and Radical Wholeness, this workshop offers skills and practices to last a lifetime. As they help you deepen into the unified intelligence of your being, you'll feel yourself carried into the intimacy of the world. An experience of radical wholeness is simply an experience of your wholeness, rooted in the nourishment of the Present.
