We’re thrilled to welcome Keir Milburn, co-author of Radical Abundance: How to Win a Green Democratic Future, for an evening of conversation at Thrivemind Village.Written by Kai Heron, Keir Milburn and Bertie Russell, Radical Abundance (Pluto Press, 2025) offers a bold and hopeful vision for escaping capitalism’s “bullshit abundance” — a world overflowing with what we don’t need (waste, overproduction, empty consumption) and starved of what we do (care, time, housing, biodiversity).
The authors propose building public-common partnerships (PCPs) — new institutional forms where communities and public bodies co-own and co-govern resources such as housing, energy, food and infrastructure. These partnerships, they argue, can begin reshaping our economy now, embedding democracy, care and ecological sanity at the heart of everyday life.
Drawing on five years of research and global case studies, Radical Abundance maps out how we can transition from a system organised around profit to one organised around shared prosperity and ecological regeneration.
