This course is for Healthcare Professionals who are looking into Shockwave Therapy or for those who have been using ESWT for a year or less.
About this Event
This one day course is open to Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Podiatrists, Sports Therapists & G.P’s and aims to review the effectiveness and risk factors of Shockwave Therapy as an evidence-based application for ongoing and chronic tendinopathies.

Shockwave therapy is an acoustic wave that passes through the body and initiates a pro- inflammatory response in the treated tissues with minimal side effects. It is emerging as a safe treatment option for soft tissue injuries with an improvement rate of 60 – 80 % in chronic conditions that have been difficult to manage.


This course is for Health Care Practitioners who are looking into the Shockwave Technology or for Practices that have just bought a Storz Medical Shockwave Device.

Main areas of chronic tendinopathies to be covered include (but not limited to) : Plantar Heel Pain, Achilles, Great Trochanteric Pain Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, Shoulder Calcific, along with the latest evidence on shockwave mechanisms and effectiveness. The day is split between Theory and practical elements to ensure practival experience is gained with the device and to explore this revolutionary treatment that has helped clinics develop effective programs for their patients. No Prior experience in shockwave therapy is necessary for this course.

LearnIng Outcomes:

• History of Shockwave therapy (Mechanisms, Indications and Contra-indications)

• Practical application and demonstration of shockwave therapy equipment

• How to manage and treat the main areas of chronic tendinopathy (key conditions).

• How current evidence is used to determine clinic protocols and how to apply to your treatment sessions.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Benoy Mathew, MSc, MCSP Ben is a UK Chartered Physiotherapist specializing in overuse lower limb injuries. A master’s graduate from the University of Hertfordshire, he’s currently working as an extended scope practitioner in London for the NHS. As an ESP Physiotherapist, he is involved in management of complex cases and requesting investigations including MRI, Xrays and ultrasound and onward referral to orthopaedics or rheumatology, if appropriate. He also provides injection therapy and shockwave therapy for suitable patients as part of their rehabilitation. Benoy has more eighteen years of experience in the field of exercise therapy and rehabilitation and is also a clinical tutor on chronic Hip and Groin & Running courses in the UK for health care professionals and fitness trainers. More than 1300 therapists have attended his CPD courses, over the last 5 years, both in the UK and internationally.
