Rachelle LeBlanc is a French American/Canadian interdisciplinary artist known for merging traditional materials—particularly those rooted in 'women's work'—with contemporary concerns of identity, transformation, and belonging.
Drawing on two decades as a fashion designer in Montreal, LeBlanc’s primary medium is the hand-hooked surface tapestry (rug-hooking). These meticulous, labor-intensive works utilize hand-dyed fabrics, upcycled materials, and vintage silks to form intricate, pixel-like imagery.
In contrast, her porcelain and earthenware sculptures are formed from Southern clay, and explores themes of identity, belonging, transformation, and inclusivity as we journey through life.
LeBlanc’s pieces are held in prestigious collections, including the City of Houston Airport Art Collection and the Royal Alberta Museum. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and the United States, including at the American Embassy in Algiers, the Art Gallery of Alberta, and the Harbourfront Center in Toronto.
Rachelle's studio is in Katy, (Cinco Ranch) Texas.
