The Merwin Conservancy will present a reading and talk with award-winning poet, visual artist, and novelist Rachel Eliza Griffiths in partnership with the Honolulu Museum of Art. This program is part of The Merwin Conservancy’s series of popular arts and ecology literary events known as The Green Room.
Rachel Eliza Griffiths is a poet, visual artist, and novelist. She is the recipient of the Hurston/Wright Foundation Legacy Award and the Paterson Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the NAACP Image Award. Griffiths is also a recipient of fellowships from many organizations, including Civitella Ranieri, Kimbilio, Cave Canem Foundation, Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and Yaddo. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, the Paris Review, Tin House, Best American Poetry, and other publications. Her debut novel, Promise, was a Kirkus Reviews and Chicago Public Library Best Book of the Year. Griffiths' debut memoir, The Flower Bearers (Random House), is forthcoming in January. She lives in New York City.
