Take on the Ironman Swim Challenge, featuring a 3.8km race that pushes your limits. For those seeking a shorter but equally thrilling option, we also offer a 1300m course.For the long course, swimmers head north from Tahunanui Beach and will reach the dolphin navigation marker at about high tide, turning south to follow the southeast toe of Haulashore Island around to the second navigation marker to the south of the island, then back to the beach. Competitors in the short swim of 1300m will walk to the Richardson St steps, swimming straight back to Tahunanui Beach, starting approx. 30 minutes after the 3.8km race.
Race Day Schedule
8:00 am Check-in opens
8:45 am Check-in closes (no late entries or check-ins after this time)
8:50 am Race briefing ALL swimmers must be out of the water, on the beach, ready for the swim and listen carefully to the race briefing.
9:00 am Race start (Long course)
*9:30 am *(approx.start time may vary) (Short course, start Richardson St steps. Short course swimmers must attend the race briefing at the Tahunanui beach at 8:50 am)
