Have you ever been curious about raising your own meat? Join us for an engaging and informative workshop on raising rabbits!
Whether you're a beginner looking to start a small rabbitry or simply curious about these delightful animals, this workshop is designed for you.
Throughout the day we will cover essential topics, including:
⁃ Choosing the Right Breed: Learn about different rabbit breeds and their unique characteristics to find the perfect fit for your needs.
⁃ Housing and Habitat: Discover how to create a safe and comfortable living space for your rabbits.
⁃ Feeding and Nutrition: Understand the dietary needs of rabbits and how to provide a balanced diet for optimal health.
⁃ Health and Care: Learn about common health issues, grooming techniques, and regular care practices to keep your rabbits thriving.
⁃ Breeding Basics: If you're interested in breeding, we’ll touch on the basics of responsible breeding practices.
⁃ Sustainable Meat Production: Explore the environmental benefits of raising rabbits for meat, including low resource input, fast growth rates, and minimal space requirements.
⁃ The Contributions of Rabbits to a homestead: Understand how raising rabbits can contribute to a sustainable and self-sufficient food system.
⁃ Dispatch and Butchery Demonstration: A key feature of this workshop is a live dispatch and butchery demonstration. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and learn humane techniques for dispatching a rabbit, followed by a detailed butchery session. This hands-on segment will provide insights into processing rabbits efficiently and respectfully, ensuring that you gain the confidence to apply these skills at home.
What to Bring:
⁃ A notebook and pen for taking notes
⁃ Any questions or topics you’d like to discuss.
⁃ Wear comfortable clothing suitable for hands-on activities.
⁃ Personal “feast kit” (Bowl, fork, spoon & mug )for lunch.
Lunch will be provided.
Cost: 60 / PWYC no one turned away for lack of funds. (Includes lunch and workshop materials)
