They’re all the rage The Orphans! Jon Lawton (gtr, vox), Scott Griffin (dms), Randy Bermudes (bs). Blues, soul, original, and traditional songs done with just the right amount of reckless abandon and experience. They’ve all been there and done that, but they still ENJOY being there and doing that. It’s a mighty fun band not to be missed if you’re into real feeling, great grooving, and good times.
Orphans bandleader JON LAWTON has been writing, recording, and performing for decades. Jon plays an always interesting blend of original and traditional blues, country, and folk music. Big Bill Broonzy, Brownie McGhee, John Lee Hooker, Hank Snow, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, and Merle Haggard are significant influences. Jon will rotate from National Steel, 12-string, 6-string guitars and banjo during his show. Jon’s old-style guitar (and banjo!) technique, plaintively conversational vocal style, and dynamic ability to move seamlessly through rags, stomps, and his own observational tunes have marked him as a modern songster who makes tradition come alive every time he performs.
