As the HVAC/R market transitions away from higher global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, the EPA has approved A2L refrigerants as suitable lower GWP options with the most common being R-32 and R-454B. The basic fundamentals and best practices when conducting a service call on A2Ls will not differ greatly compared to the current A1 refrigerants like R-410A. However, more attention should be paid to best practices with added special considerations and A2L-rated tools. This class will cover the chemical properties, safe handling, transport, and storage of A2L refrigerants, as well as any regulations updates.
