About this Event
Charming audiences with haunting harmony and deadpan humor
Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke of Quote the Raven have performed together for over a decade. The pair got their start in the small bars and pubs around St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past few years, they have rapidly grown to a household name around Canada and are steadily growing their clout internationally. The dynamic duo has a harmonious sound that’s like blending two voices into one, while their Americana meets East Coast songwriting and stage dynamic are irresistibly charming.
With over one million streams across all streaming platforms, it’s clear that Quote the Raven has been catching listeners’ attention, and that’s apparent from their touring history. With one Cross Canadian, five Eastern Canadian, and two Western Canadian tours under their belts, with more to come, the duo have performed to tens of thousands of attendees at major folk festivals around Canada, including Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Mission, Canmore, Bear Creek, and Lunenburg.
The 2019, 2021, and 2022 MusicNL (Music Association of Newfoundland and Labrador) Group of the Year have had official showcases in the US, including Americanafest, NERFA (Northeast Regional Folk Alliance), and the 2023 Folk Alliance International, and have introduced their music to Germany and Trinidad and Tobago, with hopes of continuing that global reach throughout the following years.
Their sophomore album Can’t Hold the Light, which delves into the lives of working musicians, won the 2022 ECMA (East Coast Music Association) award for Contemporary Roots Recording of the Year and has been nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards. Clearly, Quote the Raven is on an upward trajectory with no slowing down in sight.
