PRAx Presents: Quinn Carson & Bone FXA sonic mesh of 1920's big band, New Orleans brass bands, Indigenous music, and the sweetness of '90s R&B, Quinn Carson's complexity is moderated by the easy nature of his melodies. Join us as Quinn presents an impassioned evening of songs exploring the musical history of Indigenous tribes and their contribution to American Music.
Carson is a member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma and the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and grew up studying music in Arkansas through his family. He is a Grammy-nominated trombonist and vocalist and has been a guest lecturer at UCLA, the University of Chicago, and Berklee College of Music, focusing on Native American Music in jazz and hip-hop. Carson has produced music for Nike's N7 Indigenous styling program, and Indigenous music for Michelle Obama's "Waffles + Mochi" on Netflix. He's had the opportunity to perform and record for Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Jack Johnson, Gregory Porter, Jasmin Sullivan, Ledisi, Rob Thomas, Stick Figure, Rodney Jerkins, Randy Brecker, Joe Lavano, Maria Schneider, Jeff Hamilton, Nikki Glaspie and Michael McDonald.
