January is a cold, dark time, come share an evening of light and hope. On Wednesday, January 7, from 6 to 8pm, please join the WV Sierra Club at The Co-Op at 131 Pleasant Street, for the kick-off event for our new "Quilting for Community" project.Quilting is an Appalachian tradition. By echoing the quilting circle of yesteryear, we can come together to create art and community while we find joy in fighting climate change. The bar will be open, the company will be warm, and the ideas will be flowing.
Whether you're a veteran quilter or someone who's never even sewn on a button, we hope you can join us. For this first evening, we'll meet one another, hear from project partner, CJ Helenski, and plan out our community quilt. For subsequent gatherings, we'll meet every couple of weeks at the Retail Lab on High Street to actually do the quilting work. Even if you can only join us for one evening, I hope you'll come to The Co-Op on January 7 to share a free evening of solidarity and creativity.
Please RSVP using this form by Monday, January 5, and feel free to share the invitation with friends and neighbors. Email [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to offer additional support.
Help Sierra Club shine a light in the darkness!
