About this Event
Quick Labors, Strong Support: Doulas as the Calm in the Storm
What to do with a precipitate birth ?
Precipitated births, also known as rapid births, occur in 1-3% of births in the USA. It's not common but it happens. The goal of this workshop is to train community doulas on how they can assist the mother during a precipitous labor while the midwife or 911 arrives at the home.
You will learn how to:
- Communicate with 911 and the midwife
- What to do during the moment of birth
- What to do in the immediate postpartum
- How to support the mother and her family during this event
- What to do if there is excessive bleeding
