Quick and Dirty Screen Printing is the perfect class for someone who is new to printmaking and is ready to roll up their sleeves to have some fun. Screen printing is a popular printmaking medium that allows you to create multiple prints with relative ease and little equipment. In this class Philadelphia artist and The experienced screen printer, Natalie Woodluck will guide you through the main steps of making a screen print. Students in this class will learn how to draw a film positive, expose a shop screen, and print their design on paper. This class includes all materials, students only have to bring their ideas about something to draw. Students will leave with an edition of prints and the knowledge and confidence to create screen prints.
Instructor Bio: Natalie Woodlock is a printmaker and artist who recently located to Philadelphia from New Orleans. In 2018 she completed her MFA in Printmaking at the University of New Orleans (UNO), where she worked as a Teacher's Assistant in the Printshop. She is currently a Fob holder at Second State Press and her most recent work explores and celebrates queer subculture and community. From 2010 - 2015 Natalie was a collective member of the New Orleans Community Printshop, facilitating open studio silkscreen workshops for community members. Her work has been exhibited at The University of New Orleans Gallery, Chapel Gallery, Xavier University (New Orleans); Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Art Museum (Brisbane, Australia), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Gallery (Melbourne) and the Tenant Gallery at the Crane Arts Building. In July 2021, she will take up residence at the Wassaic Project in upstate NY, as the Print Fellow. In this role, she will work with selected artists to producing a limited edition print portfolio and manage the Printshop for the artists in residence.
Note: This class is in person and will be following all COVID guidelines. There will be a maximum of 5 people in the studio including the instructor. Masks must be worn the entire time inside the building.
